Lobi Stars’ Lapse in Focus Cost Us Against Bayelsa United – Bulus

Lobi Stars head coach Tony Bulus has attributed his team’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Bayelsa United in Yenagoa to a lapse in concentration. The decisive moment came ten minutes into the second half, with Magbise Wisdom scoring the only goal of the match.

Despite creating chances of their own, Lobi Stars failed to capitalise, leaving Bayelsa United managed by Ladan Bosso to defend resolutely and secure all three points.

Bulus, who took over after Mohammed Baba Ganaru’s short tenure following Daniel Amokachi’s departure, admitted that his side’s focus slipped at a crucial moment. "It was as a result of a loss of concentration that we conceded that goal," he said. "You could see that it was the only attempt Bayelsa United made on our post. We had our chances, but we could not take any."

Currently sitting at the bottom of the NPFL table with nine games remaining, Lobi Stars face an uphill battle. However, Bulus remains hopeful and sees the defeat as part of an ongoing rebuilding process. "It’s still a work in progress. After this, we know what to do to improve the team," he added.

Lobi Stars’ next challenge is a matchday 30 fixture against league leaders Remo Stars, to be played at their adopted home ground, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

Editorial

We can sympathise with Tony Bulus and his frustration over Sunday’s result. Concentration lapses are part of football, but at this stage of the NPFL season with Lobi Stars rooted to the bottom they are mistakes the team simply cannot afford.

The reality is that in top-flight football, one moment of carelessness often decides the outcome. Lobi Stars found that out the hard way against Bayelsa United. It’s painful to hear that the only real chance Bayelsa United created was the one they scored from.
