Barrister Churchill Oliseh, President of FC Ebedei, has been presented with the prestigious 2025 Award of Excellence by the Taraba State Chapter of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association. The honour, awarded on April 4th, recognises his relentless efforts and contributions to grassroots football development in Nigeria, with a particular focus on Taraba State.
Oliseh’s leadership at FC Ebedei has been widely celebrated for its professionalism, impact, and vision. The academy has grown into one of Africa’s most respected grassroots institutions, consistently nurturing talents who go on to excel both domestically and internationally.
The club’s alumni include Super Eagles stars Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, and Raphael Onyedika all of whom featured in Nigeria’s silver-winning 2024 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Ivory Coast. FC Ebedei has also produced players who now compete in elite European competitions like the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, and across various leagues in Europe and Nigeria.
Oliseh has influenced the careers of five recipients of the Member of the Order of the Niger MON national honour, including iconic figures such as Sunday Oliseh and Dosu Joseph. Under his stewardship, FC Ebedei has stood out not only for its footballing excellence but also for instilling values of discipline, progress, family, and faith.
Editorial
Churchill Oliseh receiving the Award of Excellence is more than a celebration of an individual it is a tribute to a football ideology that believes in developing people, not just players. At a time when many football structures are crumbling under the weight of mismanagement and short-term thinking, FC Ebedei offers a refreshing alternative grounded in vision, values, and sustainability.
Grassroots development often gets lip service, but Oliseh has backed it with action.
