Torino Eye Chukwueze, But ₦7 Billion Salary Hurdle Slows Move

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is reportedly on Torino’s radar ahead of the summer window. However, his hefty annual wage, estimated at €4 million net (approximately ₦7 billion), could derail any deal. The 25 year old Super Eagles star joined Milan in 2023 for around €20 million plus bonuses, yet has struggled to cement a regular place, featuring sparsely under successive managers.

That lack of game time has attracted interest from clubs across Europe, including La Liga teams, Premier League sides, and potentially Saudi Arabia. While Torino admire his pace and technical flair, the aforementioned wage presents a barrier. Chukwueze ranks among Milan’s top earners, receiving €4 million net annually, equivalent to roughly ₦6.3 billion.

Milan appear open to offloading him, with reported interest from Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton. However, any suitor would need to match his salary demands or negotiate a revised contract. For now, Ohio remains a pivotal question would Torino be willing to meet such financial terms, and can Chukwueze accept a possible pay cut.

Editorial

We’ve tracked Chukwueze’s journey with interest. His explosive spell at Villarreal earned a big move—but since relocating to Milan, opportunity has been limited. What remains unmistakable is his talent; football still needs players with his pace and direct style.

We think Torino’s interest is logical. Serie A’s mid-table sides often benefit from signing players who could thrive under the right conditions. Chukwueze could be a statement signing provided finances align. We also recognise the wage issue could be a stumbling block. At €4 million net, he’s among Milan’s highest earners a number that could unsettle clubs of Torino’s size.
