Akor Adams Set to Join Sevilla Following Medical

Former Flying Eagles striker Akor Adams is on the verge of completing his transfer to Sevilla FC from Montpellier HSC. The 24 year old Nigerian forward arrived in Seville on Saturday and was welcomed by Sevilla's sporting director, Victor Orta. Adams will undergo a medical examination on Sunday, after which he is expected to sign a contract that will keep him at the La Liga club until June 30, 2029.

As part of his introduction to Sevilla, Adams attended the team's La Liga match against RCD Espanyol at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Saturday evening. He will become the third Nigerian player to join Sevilla during the 2024/2025 season, following Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho. However, reports suggest that Iheanacho could leave the club soon, with several teams expressing interest in the former FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner.

Adams has struggled for form this season at Montpellier, recording just three goals and three assists in 16 appearances across all competitions. Nevertheless, Sevilla views his signing as a reinforcement to bolster their attacking options, which have been weakened by injuries and transfers.

This move offers Adams a fresh start in Spain's top flight and the opportunity to prove his worth at a higher level.

Editorial

Akor Adams’ imminent transfer to Sevilla presents a pivotal moment in his career. While his stint at Montpellier has not lived up to expectations, this move to La Liga offers a chance for reinvention and resurgence. Sevilla, known for nurturing talent and excelling in European competitions, is the ideal environment for Adams to realise his potential.

For Sevilla, the arrival of Adams signals a calculated effort to address their attacking deficiencies.
