NLO Leaders Meet with Bayelsa State Deputy Governor and Other Officials

Chief Operating Officer Olushola Ogunnowo and League Manager Tayo Egbaiyelo MON from the Nationwide League One NLO met with Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in Yenagoa for discussions aimed at enhancing grassroots football in the state. The meeting also included significant figures such as the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Tare Porri, the Deputy Chief of Staff Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, and Mrs. Alagoa Aigbiniode Grace, Permanent Secretary of the Bayelsa Ministry of Sports Development.



Ogunnowo described the meeting as productive, highlighting its focus on integrating NLO's activities into Bayelsa’s football development programs. He praised Governor Douye Diri's administration for its impactful contributions to youth sports, particularly through initiatives like the Prosperity Cup. Ogunnowo lauded Diri’s commitment, noting his background as a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and his proactive role in using sports to engage the youth positively.



Bayelsa’s reputation as a sports hub was emphasized, with the COO pointing out that hosting major NLO events at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex would align with the state's mission to promote grassroots football. The partnership between the NLO and Afriskaut, which showcases local talent to European clubs and global audiences, was highlighted as a key element of this initiative.
